|My FOGDEN Ancestry|
Why am I interested in Fogdens?
The answer lies with Edith Emily FOGDEN who married my maternal grandfather, Henry Robert BARTON, on 27th October 1900 at the Register Office in Steyning (7-8 miles NW of Brighton). There are several questions about this marriage: Why did they marry at Steyning? They both lived in Brighton so why not marry at the Register Office there? They didn't elope because her father, William Edward FOGDEN, was one of the witnesses.
Anyway the following details what I know about my Fogdens:
The Brighton connection (post the early 1800s)
The Donnington connection (post 1750s)
The Boxgrove connection (post 1680)
Before Boxgrove (pre 1680s)
